Release Notes for Version 1.1, Published 2008-05-01

Important changes:

  • Please note that the use of the sky annulus settings has changed. These settings are relevant when analysing an image, and is changed in the drop-down list in the toolbar above the image. What was previously the gap between the aperture and annulus is now the radius of the inner circle of the annulus. More info here.

The modification has been made in preparation to the multiple image tool currently in development (which will be release in version 2.0).

  • The format of the user defined sequence file has changed. Old files will still work, but please use the new format when creating new ones. More info here.

Mod User interface optimization
Due to the limited bandwidth at the remote observatory sites, it is necessary to keep the web page footprint as small as possible. All pages has been reworked with this in mind.

In particular, long lists will have a large footprint if they contain excessive user interface code. So the file list have been simplified, and will load a lot quicker than before.
Mod Filter change
Since it is now possible to upload old file (see next point), it is necessary to be able to specify any past date. The observation date filter component has thus been replaced by text boxes. It is also possible to specify a period (from-to). This will be useful for time series analysis, which is currently under development.
Mod List changes
FITS header details moved
Previously you would click an icon in the list to view the FITS header. Now you need to open the image first (by clicking the object name), and then clicking the 'FITS Header' link above the image.

Select files
Previously you could select files in the list by checking a check box. This has been removed to minimize bandwidth load. Stacking, downloading and deleting files now applies to all images in the list. So when you perform these functions please take care to filter out the images you don't want.
New Upload file
It is now possible to upload files to re-analyse them. They should be zipped into an zip-file to minimize bandwidth load.
New Saving a sequence from the image
You can now create or modify user defined sequences directly when working with an image. Simply click 'Save Sequence' when done.
Mod New sequence file format
The new format supports check stars. To accomplished this a new column has been added to the file format, which takes one character: 'T' for target, 'C' for comparison star and 'H' for check star.

Note that you do not have to modify existing sequence files manually. You can change them graphically and save them as described above.
New Deleting user defined sequences
A user defined sequence file can now be deleted. Go to the sequence page and click the delete symbol in the list.
Mod Star info box
The way the star info box behaves has changed (this is the box that pops up when you move the mouse pointer over a measurement in an image).

It will disappear as before when the pointer moves off the box, provided that no information has changed. But if anything has changed (such as name, star type etc.), it will stay open until the user clicks 'Update' or 'Cancel'.
New Save report to text file
It is now possible to save a complete report to text file.

This file contains image summary, target and check star lists, as well as the comparison star list as before.
New Change aperture size on the report page
An aperture box has been added to the report page to allows for quick determination of the effect of changing the aperture radius.
Mod Aperture radius change
The aperture radius can now be a decimal number instead of an integer.
New Image Display
The user now has more detailed control over how the image is displayed. Stretch the image by change the low and high threshold, invert it, and choose between linear or logarithmic stretching.

It is also possible to zoom in on any part of the image. Click the region you want to inspect. Move the mouse over the aperture, and click the 'Inspect' link in the info box.
Mod Improved default image contrast
