A preview of the image is shown. Note: This is a highly compressed jpg image, and
its quality does not necessarily reflect the quality of the raw image.
- You can select stars to measure in several ways:
- Automatically: 1) By adding data
from the AAVSO comparison star database, or 2) by importing
a user-defined file containing targets and comp stars. The automated option
is only available for images that has been successfully plate solved.
- The number of targets, comps and check stars that was sucessfully imported is
shown to the upper right of the image.
- If the targets is not detected on the image, the status label will be red.
- Stars that might be staturated (that is, have max ADU > 50 000 in the aperture)
are disabled, and displayed in gray. They can be activated on the report page.
- Manually: Click in the image to select stars. You can select
as many targets and comp stars you like.
- To see information for a particular star, hoover the mouse pointer over the aperture.
This will pop up a window with information relevant for that measurement. It also
lets you:
- Change name
- Change type of measurement (target, comp or check star)
- Enter/change B, V, R and I magnitudes
- Change the settings for the sky annulus (applies only to this star)
- Delete the measurement
- You can also adjust aperture and sky annulus settings for all measurements simultaneously.
Set the aperture radius (in pixels), the radius of the inner sky annulus circle,
and the width of the sky annulus. Click the
symbol to update all measurements.
- When all target and comparison stars have been identified, click the 'Done' button
in the toolbar. This will display the results page. Click here
for more information
Other functionality:
- Adjust display contrast
- View FITS header information by clicking the 'FITS Header' link.
- At any time you can save a sequence for later use. You accomplish this by clicking
the 'Save sequence' link and type in a name. Note that if a sequence with that name
already exists, it will be overwritten.
- You can export the image to TIFF format and download it by clicking the 'Save
as TIFF'.
- The 'Exclude and Return' link will remve this image from the file list, and redirect
you back to the list. Note that it does not permanently delete the file, it just
filters it out of the list. This can be useful if, for instance, you want to stack
several images, but one of them is of lesser quality for some reason.
